Gene P. Lawrence and Neal Edelberg were high school bandmates from New Jersey who continue to write songs years later. Fill It Up With Empty was their first country music collaboration. You'd Be Drinkin' Too was a song that Gene wrote as a tribute to returning soldiers he met working for the USO at Fort Dix, and the difficulties that some face coming home with post-traumatic stress disorder.
